Our Mission.
Viridi is redefining how the world makes the products we all rely on every day. Our unique catalyst technology enables manufacturers of diverse materials to achieve step-change improvement in manufacturing efficiency and reduction in product impact while improving product performance, without the need for new infrastructure or expensive refits. By enabling a new paradigm in chemical manufacturing, we help industry meet net zero targets and consumer demand for the next generation of essential materials.
From pioneering catalyst innovation to commercial growth
The company was born from the PhD research of co-founder Dr. Daniel Stewart at the University of Southampton. In 2021, it spun out of the School of Chemistry, building on breakthrough research in solid catalyst technology. Early angel and VC backing, UK Government support, and validation on manufacturer sites has proven the viability of the Viridi catalyst to deliver existing products and utilise CO2 as a practical feedstock in real industrial environments.
Today, the company is working with major industrial partners and consumer brand owners to bring the technology to market.
Leadership & Team
Behind the technology is a team combining deep expertise in catalysis, chemistry, and scaling industrial technologies with a shared belief that science must deliver impact at scale. Led by Dr. Daniel Stewart, a chemist turned entrepreneur, the group blends academic rigour with commercial focus. What drives the team is more than technology. It is the determination to help one of the world’s essential industries become an example of sustainable progress.
Investors & Advisors
ViridiCO2 is supported by world class investors and advisors who share our vision for a sustainable chemicals industry. EQT Ventures led our £3 million seed round, recognising the company as a “generation defining” opportunity to accelerate the energy transition. We are also backed by Innovate UK and leading figures in science and industry, including alumni and professors from the University of Southampton.
Our advisory board brings more than 70 years of combined experience in industrial catalysis design and delivery, providing invaluable guidance as we scale our technology from the lab to global manufacturing.
